As officers arrived they located a vehicle had stuck the building at 501 N.8th St. The investigation determined that a vehicle driven by a 71 yr. old Sheboygan man was driving north on S. 8th St. The vehicle struck a parked car in the 500 blk. of S. 8th St. causing this vehicle to be pushed forward and strike the vehicle in front of it. The vehicle continued northbound at a high rate of speed according to a witness, who believed the vehicle may have been traveling near 80 mph.
The vehicle then climbed the northeast curbing at N.8th St. & Pennsylvania Ave. and struck a light pole and a large concrete planter causing the planter to be pushed into the middle of N. 8th St. The impact with the planter caused the vehicle to strike the building at 501 N. 8th St. The building sustained moderate damage.
The vehicle was severely damaged. A female passenger in the vehicle, a 58 yr. old Sheboygan woman had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both subjects were taken to Aurora Memorial Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The male driver sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital.
